The small town of Quarrata, which is located in the Tuscan province of Pistoia, has about 23,900 inhabitants. Quarrata rises midway between Pistoia and Firenze. Its economy is based on artisan productions, especially furniture, of small and medium enterprises.

First measures for a successful motivation campain:

 
1. After entering the competition, the municipality has made official its admission to the Energy Trophy®+: a large section dedicated to the project has been published on their official web site with a description of the project and of the commitment of the Municipality. The link is clearly visible right in the home page . website
2. Mrs. Antonietta Catapano, responsible for the office for fundraising and for sustainable development, has quickly managed to involve her colleagues in a perfectly participative style! She explained "Consumption data is shared weekly through an internal newsletter in electronic format in order to give a clear perception of the saving performance, week by week. Colleagues are asking for more information about heating and cooling plants and their management".
3.
Drawing on the state-of-the-art. All equipment in use is being surveyed while a questionnaire has been distributed among employees in order to understand what is the perception of energy consumption in their offices and the technical knowledge about electric, heating and cooling plants.
Assessor Vincenzo Mauro states:
"Adoption and promotion of energy saving policies is a moral duty for local governments. The Municipality of Quarrata decided to play the game in the first person and enter the competition in order to sensitize its employees and give its citizens a clear sign. Our motto is 'Let's spend ourselves in saving'".
